History of Avon lake Pta
Avon Lake PTA was organized in 1923 with E.H. Martindale as president. From 1923 through the 1952-53 school year, a single PTA unit existed for all schools. In 1953, the PTA divided into three units. The units were Avon Lake High School PTA, Eastview Elementary PTA and Erieview Elementary PTA.
Westview Elementary PTA was formed in 1957, and Learwood Junior High in 1960.
Through the leadership of Betty Hassel, the PTA Council was established in 1960. Redwood Elementary PTA was established in 1962, and Troy intermediate was started in 1970. Avon Lakes preschool PTA was founded in 1986 and joined PTA Council in the fall of 1998.
After 87 years, or PTAs continue to be very active serving or local children's and youth at home, school and community.

The Mission Of PTA
To support and speak on behalf of children and youth, in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children.
To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children.
To encourage parent and public involvement in the public school of the nation.
